“Hereā€™s What It Looks Like To Use Google Glass, And Hereā€™s How To Get One”

But in Accel World, they used electronic collarish-looking things that were wired into the user’s brain, so everything they saw through their neurodevices was only visible to them. Whenever they wanted to take a picture of something, they would just think it (instead of telling the device to take a photo).

    Also I am wondering…

    • The scene where the lady was recording a rollarcoaster ride…my own prescription glasses wouldn’t stay on my head until I had someone in the glasses department at Costco custom fitted to my head. I wasn’t even on a rollarcoaster when this happened. Would the users need to have their Google Glass…things be custom fitted?
    • How would this work for glasses wearers? Could we just wear them over our regular glasses? (Which I do with regular sunglasses from Target and have no shame about it. :D)
    • And the most obvious question of all: would we be able to focus on the HUD without giving ourselves headaches?

It looks cool, but I think I want something a bit closer to Accel World. >_<

Now this is just saaaad, Facebook. Why stoop to such lows?

    Edit // 2020.11.04

It’s 2020 and I stopped being surprised by shitty behavior like this. šŸ˜¤ Facebook has been stooping to such lows for so long, they could beat everyone at limbo.

    “Facebook wants your phone number”

    Some comments I really liked…

Facebook’s listed corporate HQ phone number is 650-543-4800. Just sayin’.

    Hands

    Hee.

Google and facebook have both been begging me for my phone number for as long as I can remember.
I was begining to think they just had a crush on me. Good to see they’ve moved on.

    Brian Alexander

One huge problem with this…. not everyone has a text plan. I don’t, so this feature is useless not that I would ever give them my phone number.

    Tidal

I don’t have a texting plan…I think I only have a call-someone-and-talking-to-them-with-your-voice plan (according to my mom, we get charged for opening up text messages. Nice).

Google has been doing this for some time now actually…

  • Diaspora

Diaspora is now sending out alpha invites to everyone who signed up. Since I was one of the ones who signed up, I will be able to get in at least by the end of October. šŸ˜®

Bu-but, didn’t Facebook fix up their privacy settings? And what about Google+, the more privacy conscious version of Facebook…?

Yeeesss, Facebook only started to fix up their privacy settings when it saw G+ as a notable competitor. But its image as a data-mining ground forever tarnished their name in my eyes.

And Google? >:O Google may act like they care about users’ privacy, but they are sleazier than Facebook. Giving users some of the privacy levels they want, but demanding that they use their real names instead of a chosen online alias. And this…(“He replied by saying that G+ was build primarily as an identity service, so fundamentally, it depends on people using their real names if they’re going to build future products that leverage that information“).

So I will test out Diaspora to see if it’s any good. If not, no worries!

(I did mention Appleseed Project sometime ago, but they don’t seem to have done anything development-wise since July, according to their Github page.)
