Dream social network, I have found you! <3

Once upon a time, I raged about Facebook and their hilariously bad decisions in regards to users and their privacy. I then mentioned Diaspora, a decentralized social network that works by having a bunch of “pods” connect to each other, and each pod having user profiles. Each pod stores the user info, instead of on a central site.

But ;w; there were so very few people on it.

Hmmmm…..hmmmm…hmmmm…acting like a jerk to your client’s userbase on Twitter (which is also used for PR purposes by a lot of companies…like your client…while claiming to represent your client)?

Reasons why you might want offline capabilities:
- power goes out, taking your internet with it.
- You’re out of the house and don’t have a mobile connection.
- You’re playing a single player game and…how many times do you need internet for single player?
- you DO have mobile internet, but don’t want to pay the data fees while your game does its giant downloads

The Big 3

Once upon a time, the Book of Faces was hacked. Afterwards, Burger King’s Twitter account was broken into. Pretty soon, several computers at Apple HQ were attacked by a Java exploit. In the end, it turned out that everything pointed to an iPhone SDK message board (that didn’t know it was rigged with malware).

And then I thought…what if I needed to look at a site that I wasn’t sure was booby-trapped? Then I thought, ‘oho! I could set up a virtual machine that I can view the site on. If the site does turn out to be infested and ruins the VM, I can just close it and restore it to the snapshot pre-infestation.’
