“Spotify publicly posts content policy as Rogan responds”

Spotify does not allow hatred and incitement of violence, deception, graphic depictions of violence, sexually explicit material, and illegal content. The streaming service also says it forbids “content that promotes dangerous false or dangerous deceptive medical information that may cause offline harm or poses a direct threat to public health.”

    […]

“What happens to rule breakers?” the policy says. “We take these decisions seriously and keep context in mind when making them. Breaking the rules may result in the violative content being removed from Spotify. Repeated or egregious violations may result in accounts being suspended and/or terminated.” In other words, Spotify may choose to ignore its own policies at its discretion.

    Uh huh. 🤔

Well…when I cancelled Premium, I put “Extremely Unlikely” under “how likely are you to sign up again for Spotify Premium?” (paraphrasing–on their post-cancellation survey). At first, I thought “damn, that’s kinda nuclear. What if they realize they screwed up, apologize and remove Rogan and all is forgiven?” But it seems very unlikely this will actually happen, so not regretting my decision one bit.

Finally, toward the end, with a grin on his face, [Rogan] offered some words to those he later called “the haters,” saying, “If I pissed you off, I’m sorry.”

    No you’re not. 🙄

“Spotify overwhelmed with requests to cancel following Joe Rogan saga”

They’re soo overwhelmed that they can’t cancel people’s premium plans now. 😳 So I guess folks who want to cancel have to deal with paying for a few more months of premium until this clears up? Glad I jumped ship before things got bad.

“Spotify support buckles under complaints from angry Neil Young fans”

Soooo…I don’t know who Neil Young or Joe Rogan are, but remember this?? Yeah, my premium trial would’ve ended in March, before I have to pay for it, but ummmm, totally ditched Spotify and back to Apple Music, because of the Joe Rogan thing.

And also? For those wondering what happened to free speech, free speech is STILL a thing.

  • The risk is better than the alternative

Are these vaccines—is this injection—100 percent safe? As a parent of two children that go to this school, I’m not willing to take the chance on a question mark.

This is infuriating. Nothing is 100% safe – do you drive your kids to work? Do you wear seatbelts? Why? Because they are safer than driving without them, despite the fact that they could, perhaps, kill your child.

Like everything else, it’s a risk, but that risk is absolutely better than the alternative. I have a feeling these parents know this, but want to outsource that risk to other parents/children so that they can go on living their lives with the knowledge that other people will pull the weight of public health for them.
